The project
Three storytellers. One epic, seen through shadow.
Sabera Shaik, Susan Sarah John and Kamrul Hussin reimagine the closing battle of the Ramayana through wayang kulit, music and playful storytelling. Traditional sounds meet contemporary composition and Verdi’s Requiem in a film that reveals the performers behind the shadows.
Presented by Masakini Theatre Company with support from Yayasan Hasanah through ArtsFAS, Tiga Rawana was created for online audiences in 2021. Surprise Ventures acted as producer.
