The project

A woman’s resolve, told through movement and folk theatre.

Lari follows a young woman who leaves her community, only to face rejection elsewhere. Part of the devised work A People Without History, it draws on Randai’s combination of music, singing, movement, drama and silat.

Presented by Masakini Theatre Company, directed by Sabera Shaik and based on a story by Az’farr Baginda, the performance was filmed at Studio Ramli Hassan for online audiences. Surprise Ventures acted as producer.
